Muscle Therapy
Muscle therapy combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to provide relief from pain in one treatment. This technique helps break up scar tissue, lengthen the muscle, restore muscle memory, and relief from pain starts immediately.
Releasing muscle encompasses many techniques. The Graston Technique is one of them, and is discussed elsewhere on our site. ART or Active Release Technique is another, where deep muscle massage occurs while Dr. Zev asks you to actively tighten the muscle. There are many other passive and active (rehab) ways to normalize muscle tone. Dr. Zev frequently applies more traditional massage methods as well. The right combination of muscle therapies will be chosen for your case.
Your chronic soft tissue problem may be the result of imperfectly healed injuries; either acute or longer term over use injuries. Scar tissue forms and restricts normal soft tissue length and flexibility. Once the injured soft tissue begins to heal, Dr. Zev will prescribe the appropriate exercise and stretching program to hasten your recovery.
Most sessions with Dr. Zev begin or end with time on our massage chair.
